"The history of what is now New Jersey begins at the end of the Younger Dryas, about 15,000 years ago. Native Americans moved into New town reversal of the Younger Dryas; before then an ice sheet hundreds of feet thick had made the area of northern New Jersey uninhabitable.
European contact began with the exploration of the Jersey Shore by Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524. At the time of European contact, many tribes of the Lenape lived in the area.
In the 17th century, the New Jersey region came under the control of the Swedes and the Dutch, resulting in a struggle in which the Dutch proved victorious (1655). However, the English seized the Dutch colony of New Netherland in 1664, renaming it the Province of New Jersey. New Jersey became one of the Thirteen Colonies which broke away from Britain in the American Revolution, adopting the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Becoming a state upon the formation of the United States, New Jersey saw significant action during the American Revolutionary War. New Jersey's delegates signed the Articles of Confederation in 1779. Princeton acted as the nation's capital for four months in 1783, while Trenton served as the capital in November and December 1784. Trenton was also under consideration as the permanent U.S. capital, along with New York City and Philadelphia, before southern states, led by Thomas Jefferson, pushed for a capital to be established south of the Potomac River."
In 1787, New Jersey became the third state to ratify the United States Constitution.

PTSD can be an impairing disorder characterized by reexperiencing traumatic events and engaging in avoidance behaviors that can impact almost every aspect of daily functioning

Understanding Power and Control
www.x.com/saintgothic/status/1888096930586321287
You can learn more about the Power and Control Wheel at http://theduluthmodel.org.
The wheel helps victims understand the tactics used against them.
The wheel doesn't imply that abuse happens in a specific order, but rather that multiple forms of abuse can happen at the same time
The wheel shows that abuse is a pattern of behaviors that can include economic abuse, coercion, intimidation, emotional abuse, isolation, and more
The wheel has two rings: the inner ring shows subtle, ongoing behaviors, and the outer ring shows physical and sexual violence
The Power and Control Wheel is a visual model that illustrates the tactics used by abusers to gain and maintain power and control over their victims. It was created in 1984 by the Domestic Abuse Intervention Project (DAIP) in Duluth, Minnesota
That is why the words “power and control” are in the center of the wheel. A batterer systematically uses threats, intimidation, and coercion to instill fear
Lastly, what makes one feel emotionally or physically unsafe differs from person to person and it is important to understand that your experience is valid, even if your roommate says otherwise and/or others don’t seem to understand
The home is often thought of as a safe place to come back to after the stresses of the day, so it is understandable that not having that feeling of safety can take a toll on people
www.x.com/saintgothic/status/1888094595369853348
Is there a place you can go to get away from them/somewhere that can be a safe place?
However, in situations of abuse, this assumption does not hold because one person is exerting power and control over the other person. It is especially common in roommate situations, which can vary so greatly in severity, for
people to assume that any conflict with a roommate is a minor disagreement that can be solved with a talk or mediation.
Simply put, mediation often approaches a situation from the perspective that both parties play a role in maintaining the state of conflict and thus must focus on coming to a compromise
In some situations, mediation, whether formal or informal, can be helpful, but it is important to acknowledge that under some circumstances, mediation can do more harm than good
say, “Why don’t you just move out?” There are a variety of understandable reasons for staying in a hostile roommate situation and it is important to note that “just moving out” isn’t feasible, or even safe, for everyone
Making or threatening to make false claims about you to your landlord or another authority
Turning other housemates against you in order to control you
Threats (e.g. to hurt you, your children, or your pets)
Insults/name-calling
Telling you that you are overly sensitive/trivializing your concerns
Turning the situation around and blaming you when you call them out/try to have a conversation about their behaviorTelling you that you are causing the abuse/that they wouldn’t have done x if you hadn’t done y
Gaslighting (i.e., making you doubt your perception/reality)
Denying things you know are true (even if you have indisputable proof)
Silent treatment/refusing to talk to you about a disagreement for an unreasonable amount of time
Any sort of physical violence against you, your children and/or your pets
Throwing/breaking things (even if you are not physically harmed, this behavior serves to intimidate and tends to send the message that you will be next
Controlling your access to the living space (e.g. taking your keys, locking you out
The Duluth Model’s Power and Control Wheel) lists some ways in which one person can attempt to gain power and control over another
Abuse centers on power, control, and consent
Identity can also affect comfort reporting to police/authorities as well because of stereotypes in society of what type of person is a perpetrator and what type of person is a victim (e.g. an assumption that perpetrator is a straight male and survivor/victim is a straight female)
Identity can be used to manipulate someone
Differences in age, identity
Differences in relationship to the landlord
Differences in how long the parties have lived in the current residence
Space is not equally split
For example, sometimes people use their position of lower power in one respect to insist that the person of higher power unreasonably owes them something like money or extra chores.
These differences in power become problematic when one person or group uses the power difference to harm the other person or group. Abuse can be perpetrated not only by the person in the higher power position, but also by the person in the lower power position
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 43.3%
